Alternative Break Group from University of Delaware
We want to extend a huge thank you to the alternative break group from University of Delaware that came to the farm last Friday. They spent all week working at different urban farms in Baltimore and we were lucky to get them on their last day! They were a huge help in getting the space cleaned up and ready for the upcoming season. They helped us weed out the hoophouse rows, consolidate our compost piles, paint the benches and the boards on the hoophouse and add fresh wood chips to the walkways. They got so much stuff done that we barely had any work for our monthly volunteer day that happened on Saturday!
We are also very excited to announce that we started preparations on our new site! We have adopted a lot on St. Ann's Street that we will be using to expand our production of both annuals and perennials. With the help of the alternative break group we were able to put down compost on three new rows that will be ready to plant in about two weeks.

Hoophouse vs. Snow
This past week the farm did not take nicely to the large amount of snow that hit Wednesday and Thursday night. Our hoophouse suffered as the weight of the snow caused it to collapse in on itself. The Farm Crew came to the rescue and showed their love for the hoophouse on Valentines morning working through the afternoon, shoveling out snow, and attempting to salvage the remains of our winter crop. This is only a minor obstacle and we can't wait to push past into spring!
Special thanks to: Dana, Rosa, Ryan, Natanya, Brian, and community members who came out.

January at the Garden
It's the first really snowy day here in Baltimore (a whopping 2-3 inches!) but inside the hoop house at Boone Street it is a toasty 73 degrees. Wow!
These lovely lettuces are enjoying their cozy home.
A visit from one of our favorite neighbors, Mr. Howard!
A frosty community garden.
Farm Alliance produce is still available at the year round Waverly Market on 33rd Street, but the Farm Alliance winter schedule has changed to the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month until produce availability increases again.
See you January 11th and 25th!
