Fall Internships
Boone Street is hiring interns for the fall! Internships will run from September through November. We are looking for individuals to help us with farm work, fundraising and garden club. Check out the Internship descriptions below or email boone.street.farm@gmail.com for more information.

Farm Intern

Boone Street Farm is a quarter acre vegetable farm and
community garden in the East Baltimore Midway neighborhood. Our mission is to
cultivate sustainable agriculture and promote healthy eating in our
neighborhood and city. We are a member of the Farm Alliance of Baltimore City
and produce for restaurants, Waverly Farmer’s market, neighborhood CSA and farm
stand sales. We offer monthly workshops, volunteer days, and a garden club for
Cecil Elementary School.
This fall we are hiring a farm intern who can commit 10
hours per week from September – early December. This is an unpaid internship
and will include educational opportunities, produce as available, and the opportunity
to be an integral part of a small, community-focused organization.
Responsibilities
- Assist with all aspects of production including weeding, planting, harvesting, and processing
- Assist with CSA distribution, restaurant deliveries, Farmer’s market preparation and Wednesday farm stand sales
- Assist with community outreach and farm communications
- Able to work two days a week preferably on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday or Saturday
- Some weekend and night work may be necessary
Qualifications
- Some farming experience is a plus but not necessary
- Strong interest in sustainable agriculture and urban farming
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
- Ability to lift 40 lbs and work in all weather conditions

- Primary person responsible for planning farm benefit to be held November 20th, 2014.
- Promote upcoming events via social media, promotional materials and other creative, grassroots means
- Staff September 13th benefit show and November 20th dinner.
- Contact potential donors and lead fundraising outreach
- Assist with general farm duties as needed
Qualifications
- Clear communication skills when working with venues, caterers, donors, and all people that come together to make events happen
- Able to balance multiple tasks, work independently and take initiative
- Strong interest in sustainable agriculture, urban farming and promoting our mission
- Able to work well with diverse populations
- Availability on Mondays in preferable, some work from home is also possible. Occasional weekend and night work will be required.

- Assist with Cecil Elementary School Garden Club Wednesdays from 1:00 – 6:00 pm
- Able to assist with lessons that focus on learning how to grow food, nutrition and environmental education.
- Assist with curriculum development
- Help with preparation and cleanup of the “classroom” spaces and supply areas before and after each program
- Strive to ensure that programming is accessible to a diversity of students
- Assist with general farm duties as needed
Qualifications
- Experience working with elementary school kids
- Able to multi task, work independently and take initiative
- Able to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Availability on Wednesdays from 1:00-6:00, some work from home will be possible, and occasional night and weekend work may be required.
